Childers Meat proudly offers  High Desert Grass Fed Beef.

High Desert Grass Fed Beef cattle, primarily Angus cross, young healthy cows, come from the heart of Central Oregon’s High Desert and are not just grass-fed, but are grass-finished. These cattle are sourced from featured ranches in communities such as Mitchell, Fossil, French Glen, Paulina and Madras, Oregon. We partner with multiple small ranchers to guarantee consistent quality and supply. These ranchers have all elected to eliminate the use of hormone implants and antibiotics in raising their cattle (both of which are commonly used in generic beef production as growth promotants). This practice of antibiotic and hormone removal has been very successful and distinctive for our parent program, which is reviewed by the USDA and audited in triplicate by multiple entities. Affidavits are on file for each and every animal to validate the absence of antibiotics and hormones.
High Desert Grass Fed Beef standards extend well beyond the ranch. After leaving the ranch, cattle are harvested at Kalapooia Processing facility in Brownsville, Oregon. Kalapooia has elected to be an exclusively grass-fed facility to eliminate bacteria found in grain and corn finished animals. From there, HDGF beef makes the short trek to our facility in Eugene where it’s processed into fresh ground beef and ground beef patties.
